Sawaariya is a story basically of Ranbir Raj who comes in side a fairy tale place where there are big LCD screens but no vehicles well IIRC there was not much light too and where every night there used to Rain and Snow . isn’t it a fairyland and even film is until Ranbi Raj knows who Sakina really love. Not going much into story as most of them know that but this film holds your attention at one point ( all the scens) and leaves at other .The major flaw in the screenplay is the
songs except Sawaariya title and Yon Shabnami all were actually not needed and comes at a time there was a need or some expectations that something would happen . the scenes hold your attention to be brokenjust be songs and ewarlier it was ok but from the time of thode badmash it became irritating .still don’t know what chail chabila , jab se tere naina was there for . now one may argue this is a musical but that musical should contain songs that actually express feelings of Ranbir .
There was no song that actually express how madly Ranbir loves Sakina why ?????? Also one do feel for Salman khan when he gets upset with the director for not keeping his 45 mins. Actually if the songs would have been just 2-3 and they had kept 45 mins of salman it would have been really interesting .
After some advice on screenplay one another sincere advice What was the need to make this story in opulent and beautiful sets ?????? does it make sense that the lover is feeling pathos of love and the background is so beautiful that one gets captivated in it . if the surroundings would have normal one may have actually felt for the character and severly sympathise with Ranbir .
Sonam Kapoor is strictly ok here . She has a sligthy odd dialogue delivery and here giggles and laughter is fake ( Ashs looks fake on TV par yeh to cinema mein bhin fake lagte hain ) to ad to that Mr, Bhansali has given her such a half baked character one just don’t know what to expect
what to expect . at one point she becomes a rotdu at one point angry (don’t know at what ) and one point giggling .
Zohra sehgal is terrific here . her chemistry with Ranbir was better than Ranbir- Sonam .
